How we handle your application

What we collect

Your name, your email address, your question, and the figures and details you choose to give about your household, income, spending, home, savings, pensions, loans and cover. Every figure is optional.

You may also send a voice note about your goals and worries. This is optional. If you send one, you must separately agree that Gerry may edit and play it in a case review on YouTube and planeir.ie. We keep the recording and the wording and date of that permission. You can apply without a recording.

Please do not send PPS numbers, passwords, bank account, IBAN or card details, your address, identity documents, or information about another person that is not needed to explain your situation.

Why we use it

We use your application to read your situation, decide whether to explain it in a video, prepare that video, and reply to you. We do this because you consent to it when you send the application. You can withdraw your consent at any time by emailing us. This does not affect what was done before you withdrew it.

What is published

If your case is picked, the video and its page on planeir.ie show your situation with the figures rounded. Your name, email address, employer and lender are left out. Your written answers are paraphrased. If you send a voice note with the required separate permission, Gerry may edit and play it in the video. Your voice may be recognisable even when your name is removed. Ages and the shape of your situation are shown, because the explanation depends on them. We email you when the video is live.

If you want a published video taken down, email us and we will remove it. To withdraw permission for your voice note, email hello@planeir.ie. We will stop using it and remove it from the recordings and published material we control. We cannot recall copies other people have already downloaded or shared.

How it is stored

Your figures are encrypted when they are stored. Your name, email address and question are stored with our record of your application so we can reply. The emails we send you do not contain your figures.

Voice notes are stored privately in Cloudflare file storage, linked to your application. Gerry can listen to them and download an editing copy after signing in. Recordings are not attached to notification emails or included in public case-data downloads. A private link in your receipt email lets you add or replace a recording for seven days.

Service providers

• Cloudflare hosts the service that receives and stores applications.
• Resend sends our emails.
• GitHub hosts the pages of this website.
• YouTube hosts published videos.
• OpenAI: Gerry may use ChatGPT and Codex to help prepare the analysis and the script for a video. They are given the figures and your written context, not your name or email address. This voice-note feature does not send recordings to an AI or transcription service.

These providers may process information outside the European Economic Area under contractual safeguards. Email us if you want more information about those safeguards.

How long we keep it

If your case is not picked, your figures and voice note are deleted 12 months after you apply. If your case is picked, we keep them while preparing the video and while it is published, so we can answer questions about it. You can ask us to delete your application at any time. Incomplete voice-note uploads expire after 15 minutes. Deletion retries may retain an inaccessible storage copy briefly while cleanup completes.

Your rights

You may ask for access to, correction of, deletion of, restriction of or a copy of your personal data. Email hello@planeir.ie. You may also complain to the Data Protection Commission at dataprotection.ie.
